EXINI in practice

Report 1

At the Danish Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark, EXINI Diagnostic’s prototype for positron emission tomography (PET) aimed at discovering lung caner, has been piloted, In this case it is evident that decision support systems can potentially save physicians a great deal of time. In their clinical routine, one radiologist and one nuclear medicine specialist spent 45 minutes each (altogether 1½ hours) on carefully reviewing a complete PET-computed tomography (PET/CT) examination. Previous studies show that this time can be substantially reduced, sometimes to 10 minutes, especially for normal cases if a decision support system agrees with the specialist’s interpretation.

Report 2

At Malmö University Hospital, in Malmö, Sweden, where EXINI heart™ is used for all heart studies, the benefits from the report system are evident. The staff can easily generate reports, store them in the department’s information system, and print a copy of the report for the referring physician. The workflow is much more efficient than it was when reports were typed by secretaries and sent back to the physician 1 or 2 days later for proofreading and a signature.
“This product is the best I have seen on the market so far – it is simply outstanding,” says Associate Professor Sven Valind at the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Malmö University Hospital.
